Silvio Meza, Jr., 33, put police through their paces on Sunday afternoon during a standoff that lasted more than seven hours after an incident involving a woman he injured during an altercation.
Shortly before 2:45 p.m. on March 10, officers from the Fairfax County Police Department were approached by a woman who had been assaulted by a man - later identified as Meza - who was inside a home in the 6700 block of Chestnut Avenue in Mosby.
Officers initially attempted to coax Meza out of the home, but he refused, and it was later determined that he may be armed with a rifle. He continued to refuse officers' directions, prompting a call for backup.
Police say that after more than seven hours, Meza surrendered without further incident at around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday night. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with:
- Assault;
- Strangulation;
- Abduction;
- Possession of a firearm;
- Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
He was also served on a warrant for failure to appear in court for a drug offense. He's being held on no bond.
